Summary

Gerick Bergsma is a an ecologist and naturalist, and teaches courses in biology and marine science in the College of Science at California State University, Monterey Bay. Dr. Bergsma's teaching focuses on hands-on field and lab courses in ecology, zoology, marine science, and wildlife biology as well as developing and leading undergraduate research and internship programs. Dr. Bergsma’s research bridges natural history and community ecology, and focuses on how species interactions alter organismal-level processes and drive community composition. His experiences include ornithological research throughout the Western U.S.; rocky intertidal research in the U.S., Mexico, and South Africa; and coral reef research in French Polynesia, Taiwan, and Palau.
